GEORGE PADURE
- short biography -
Born on 25th of April, 1954 in Constantza. He is a Law School graduate . At his only 23 years old he could already speak 4 foreign languages : Romanian, French, English and Greek and in present, after having been living in Belgium for 15 years, he can also speak Dutch ( the flemish language ).
After only 4 years - as representative of a belgium export company, he becomes his manager, coordinating 60 belgium employees.
In 1986 he starts his own business, openning in Belgium GEPA company, which after the first year of operation, becomes the largest exporter of electronic products in Greece. The name of the company comes from the first two letters of the name and surname of his owner.
In December 1989, being abroad, he is carefully watching the eruption and the accomplishment of the Romanian Revolution.
By returning to Romania, in 1990 he sets up the same company GEPA in Romania, denominating it Gepa Center . Shortly, it becomes the first Romanian company, operating according to international standards, with a turnover of 6 mil. USD/p.a.
In present, he lives in Bucharest, Romania and Antwerpen, Belgium.
He has been very active in the mass-media, publishing a series of articles, reports and interviews intended to consolidate through their message, the ethical business practices, specific to the market economy, the changing of mentalities and progress of democracy in Romania.
In 1996, he wins as an independent the local elections, becoming Mayor in Bucharest .
In 1999, he attends " the Private Public Partnership for the revival of the 21th century cities " course - Washington, USA.
He is graduated from Romanian NATIONAL DEFENCE College .
